One of the pioneers of science fiction in Bengali literature, Muhammed Zafar Iqbal was born on December 23, 1952 in Sylhet. Though he was a scientist, his literary career started since childhood. His genre is mostly science fiction and children’s literature. His well-known writings include ‘Ami Topu’, ‘Kajaler Dinratri’, ‘Gabbu’, ‘Animan’, ‘Sobuj Valvet’, ‘Rasha’, ‘Quantum Mechanics’, ‘Theory of Relativity’, etc. He is the recipient of highest literature award in Bangladesh, that is, Bangla Academy Award in 2004 along with other literary awards such as Khalekdad Chowdhury Literary Award, Sheltech Literary Award, and Uro Child Literary Award. His contribution to Children’s literature has been an inspiration to the future writers of Bangladesh.
